Russian Defense Ministry commented that war planes hit terroristic supporting bases, their groupings and military equipment at the outskirts of the city. Frigate Admiral Essen launched Caliber cruise missiles against the terrorists contributing to these successful results.

Syrian army’s divisions advanced to the South West under this cover and broke through the defense wall of the terrorist forces.

The troops joined city defenders who have been holding the line for three years. Now the army soldiers are fighting the terrorists at the city streets liberating the city parts earlier controlled by the terrorists.

Islamic State forces wanted to prevent the advance of the Syrian army with help of suicide bombers in armored cars. However, the army destroyed more than fifty of them.

Deir ez-Zor and the military airfield located nearby have been under siege for almost three years. The terrorists used suicide bombers to attack these objects, but the military reservations did not give in. Food provisions and supplies of weapons were delivered to the army men and population by air.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has already congratulated his colleague Bashar al-Assad with successful operation.
