The pressure from authorities in unfriendly countries on the Orthodox Church and Russian expatriate associations has reached significant levels, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. He expressed that many compatriots abroad are facing extremely difficult working conditions, comparable to being on the front lines, TASS reports.

Lavrov highlighted unprecedented attacks on Russian expatriates in the United States, Canada, and Western European countries. Additionally, he noted widespread attacks on the Orthodox faith overseas, citing a specific provocation by the Patriarchate of Constantinople with foreign assistance in creating the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, leading to the destruction of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

It is not the first time that Russian Foreign Minister highlights this problem. This issue was discussed at the World Conference of Compatriots Living Abroad, which was held in Moscow in early November.
