Dozens of lawsuits have been filed in Finnish courts by local management companies who complain that Russians do not pay utility bills for real estate in Finland, since Helsinki has banned accepting Russian funds through banks. The authorities are preparing a bill that will simplify the procedure for seizing real estate from Russians, Arguments and Facts reports.

Management companies claim that a lot of Russians fail to pay the bills. The plaintiffs demand that the courts seize housing owned by Russians for debts.

The largest number of such claims are filed in the regions of Finland that border Russia. It was there that Russians most often purchased apartments and houses, and after measures introduced by the Finnish authorities, they lost the opportunity to use their property and transfer payments for its maintenance, as well as sell real estate.

Easing sanctions against property owners would solve the problem overnight, but the Finnish authorities, who have taken a Russophobic course, cannot make such a decision. On the contrary, they are developing a provision that will make it easier to seize real estate from Russians.
