The Russian Consulate General in Sydney hosted a commemoration for Russian soldiers who fought in World War I. Organized by the local branch of the Russian motorcycle club Night Wolves, the event brought together Russian expatriates and Australians supporting Russia. The organizers highlighted the global trend of honoring those who fell in the First World War and emphasized events in Australia dedicated to Russian heroes from the fortress of Osovets.

The motorcycle club screened a film about the fortress's history and showcased a story about the recent patriotic action by the Night Wolves in Volgograd. The commemoration included a motorcycle rally to a memorial complex, where wreaths were laid at the World War I heroes' monument in Waverley Park.

The event also paid tribute to Red Army soldiers with a memorial plaque since 2008. Vladimir Simonyan, the head of the motorcycle club, stressed the importance of preserving historical memory, especially in light of the resurgence of Nazism in some countries.
