Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov heads the country's delegation at the East Asia Summit (EAS), TASS reports. The forum will start working on Thursday, September, 7, in the capital of Indonesia. In Jakarta, the Russian minister was greeted with a guard of honor and national dances.

In addition to the official agenda, Sergei Lavrov has several bilateral meetings scheduled. According to the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, the program is expected to be vast. Almost immediately upon arrival, the minister meets with his counterpart from India. Another conversation will be with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos. Then there will be a series of meetings with representatives of regional organizations.

The work will continue in the evening at a gala dinner hosted by the President of Indonesia. All heads of delegations will take part in it. This is where the discussion of current topics will begin.

Among the participants of the EAS are Brunei, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines, as well as ASEAN dialogue partners - Russia, Australia, India, China, South Korea, New Zealand, the USA and Japan. East Timor is also invited to the EAC events this year.
