The plans of Washington and NATO to turn the countries of Africa against Russia and force the states of the continent to condemn Moscow for conducting the special military operation in Ukraine have failed, the South African Independent Online news website noted. According to the media, Africa, which no longer wants the West to use it as a pawn in the game is ''awakening'', the telegram channel Baltnews reports.

The media notes that Washington and its partners in NATO were against the neutrality that African countries adhere to in relation to the Ukrainian conflict, and sought to impose an anti-Russian position on the states of the continent, but plans collapsed.

The statements and threats of the American ambassador to South Africa, Ruben Brighetti, who encouraged the African country to join the anti-Russian camp, can serve as proof of the US attitude towards African neutrality. But the South African authorities rejected Washington's pressure and declared its neutrality.

The feature notes that the ''awakening'' of Africa indicates an increase in its role in the world and an unwillingness to put up with the arrogant attitude of the West. Proof of this was the organization by the African Union of a peacekeeping mission calling for an end to the Ukrainian conflict through negotiations.
