The US authorities continue to disregard the norms of international law, the Russian Permanent Mission to the UN said. This is how diplomats commented on the refusal to issue visas to Russian journalists who planned to cover UN events. All the necessary deadlines and formalities with the submission of documents by the Russian side were observed, the diplomats assured.

They called on the management of the world organization and international structures to assess this outrageous situation and take action against the violator.

This fact shows how Washington treats human rights, including freedom of speech and freedom of access to information, the permanent mission noted.

The mission clarified that the United States violated the agreement on the central bodies of the UN by not issuing visas to Russian journalists. The journalists were supposed to accompany Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to New York.

Russia became chairman of the UN Security Council for a month from April, 1. Sergei Lavrov will chair the Security Council for a number of meetings.
