Electronic visas are planned to be launched in Russia from the beginning of next month, TASS reports. This proposal was approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with members of the Government, which took place the day before, on July, 19. Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova asked the head of state to support the launch of electronic visas from August, 1.

Electronic visas were supposed to be implemented in 2021. This decision concerned residents of more than 50 countries. It was decided to postpone the law due to restrictions aimed at combating the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Electronic visas will appear on all major tourist destinations, Russian President Vladimir Putin believes. He called them a popular and convenient mechanism. According to him, foreigners are increasingly choosing Russian resorts. It is necessary to make the fulfillment of all formalities as convenient as possible for them. Vladimir Putin believes that it is one of the conditions for the development of the tourism industry.
