Composer Eduard Artemyev passed away

Soviet and Russian composer Eduard Artemyev passed away, RIA Novosti reports. He was 86 years old. The composer was hospitalized in Moscow with COVID-19 at the beginning of December. Artemyev’s condition was moderate, but that his situation was complicated by chronic heart disease. 
Eduard Artemyev is mostly famous in Russia and abroad for his film music. He wrote scores for more than 150 documentaries, features, and animated films. Among other work the highlights are his scores for Andrey Tarkovsky films Solaris, Mirror, and Stalker; the Nikita Mikhalkov's At Home Among Strangers, A Slave of Love, An Unfinished Piece for Mechanical Piano, Family Relations, Andrey Konchalovsky’s Siberiade. 

Artemyev has written music for two Russian Olympic Games, as well.
