According to the head of Russian center in New York Margarita Terentieva, Pushkin Book Festival was held in Washington for two years, and now it's conducted in NYC for the first time.

Margarita Terentieva has stressed that the main goal of the event is to promote Russian children literature to bilinguals with Russian and Russian-American roots.

Many book novelties were introduced at the Public library. Their authors came to participate in discussions and Q&As. The figure of Aleksander Pushkin was presented in two incarnations. A young actor played little Pushkin who just began writing poems, and another actor recited poems of the mature poet. Young actors performed few scenes from Pushkin's fairytales.

Well-known composer and singer Grigory Gladkov participated in event with his songs from popular animations.

The teacher of Russian language and literature from Washington Natalya Kolodina who carries big experience working with bilingual kids has noted that many of her students are not acquainted with Russian contemporary children literature that has undergone impressive changes for last years.
