An exhibition dedicated to the battle of Stalingrad opened in Serbia

An exhibition dedicated to the Battle of Stalingrad has opened last weekend at the Pancevo Folk Museum, Tass reports. The local modeling club Doctor Vladimir Aleksich and the Serbian-Russian friendship society Slavic Union have partecipated in the exhibition organization.

According to Robert Resanovich, the chairman of the Serbian-Russian friendship society Slavic Union, the exhibition includes 50 thematic models that represent aircraft, artillery, figures of soldiers from both sides. They are complemented by historical photographs that capture the moments of the battle for the liberation of Stalingrad.

Russian diplomats, members of the Serbian-Russian Friendship Society were presented at the opening ceremony. The exhibition attracted attention of Panchevo residents, adults came to explore the history of famous battle with their kids.

As Russkiy Mir reported, there is a plan to erect a monument to General Vasily Margelov in Panchevo. Under his command, Soviet soldiers liberated the cities from the invaders. 

The Battle of Stalingrad anniversary will be celebrated at the state level. Next year, the large-scale event that turned the tide of the Great Patriotic War and World War 2 will turn 80 years old. The defeat of the German troops in the Battle of Stalingrad is of particular importance for achieving Victory, the decree of the Head of State says.

February 2 is considered the day of the defeat of the Nazi troops in the Battle of Stalingrad. The Stalingrad offensive operation of the Soviet troops (codenamed "Uranus") began on November 19, 1942. By February 2, 1943, the group of German troops concentrated in and around Stalingrad, was defeated. Almost one hundred thousand Germans, including Field Marshal Paulus, commander of the 6th Army, were surrendered.
