Mass rallies against anti-Russian sanctions, resulting in problems in the energy sector and rising prices continue in European countries. Regular protests were held last weekend in Berlin and Vienna.

In the German capital on October 8, thousands of protesters came to the Bundestag.
“I want Russian gas and oil,” was written on the posters brought by the protesters, who want the return of access to cheap energy from Russia. They oppose anti-Russian sanctions and the policy of the German leadership. Other participants of the action demanded from Berlin to return to friendship relationship with Moscow. The protest was held by the Alternative for Germany party under the slogan "Our country is above all." At the rally, there was a call to dismiss the German government.

Let us remember, that 1 month earlier, 2,000 mostly Russian-speaking protesters marched in the western city of Cologne to demand Germany stop supporting Ukraine and drop sanctions it imposed after Russia-Ukraine conflict had started. Many of them carried Russian flags or banners with the letters NATO, the trans-Atlantic military alliance, crossed out with a red line. The pro-Russian rally was met by a few dozen counter-protesters who had also gathered in the shadow of Cologne's hulking Gothic cathedral to express support for Ukraine. "Germany is in chaos," said Elena Kolbasnikova, an organizer of the Russian protest, quoting Vladimir Putin’s assertion that Russia's invasion protects Russian speakers in the Eastern Ukraine.

Another protest action with similar demands gathered about 2 thousand people in Vienna. In addition to claims on returniing friendly relations with Russia and protesting against rising energy and food prices, the Austrians demanded authorities the military and political neutrality and opposed European Union, NATO and Washington aggressive policies.
