Brisbane Russian Orthodox community have started preparing for celebration of the centenary of the founding of the first Russian Orthodox parish in Australia. In honor of the centennial anniversary of the founding of St. Nicholas Cathedral, the special concert to be held on November 6, the newspaper of the Russian community of Australia "Unification" reports.

St. Nicholas Cathedral is not only an architectural landmark of Brisbane, but also an important historical monument for Russia and Australia. It was the first church for Russian settlers, where the Orthodox parish was opened. The temple was erected between 1923 and 1926.

To this day, St. Nicholas Cathedral is considered the flagship of Russian Orthodoxy in Australia and a legendary place for Russian compatriots. After the temple was finished, Russian settlers built schools, clubs and other places of Russian Australia.

Australia has long recognized the uniqueness of the temple, which is included in the list of cultural heritage sites of Queensland. In honor of the 100th anniversary of the parish, the charity concert will include a local school choir and the folk ensemble.
