The draft resolution presented by Russia on combating the glorification of Nazism was approved at a meeting of the UN General Assembly, RIA Novosti reports.

The document was supported by representatives of 130 states, more than 50 abstained. As in recent years, two states opposed the resolution: the United States and Ukraine.

The authors of the document called on countries to take measures to prevent the distortion of the results of World War II and the denial of crimes against humanity and war crimes committed during the war years. In particular, appropriate concrete steps need to be taken in the legislative and educational areas.

The authors of the document strongly condemn incidents related to the glorification and propaganda of Nazism. The resolution calls for the renunciation of all forms of racial discrimination, including legislation, if circumstances so require.

About 20 countries have co-authored the text. They express concern about the glorification of the Nazi movement, neo-Nazism and former members of the Waffen-SS in any form.
