The film was based on the archive of the Soviet engineer and inventor Igor Grachev, who was a member of the legendary Soviet expedition to Antarctica in 1955-1957. It was the first comprehensive Antarctic expedition, and for some crew members it became the last. The premiere of the film took place on the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica by Russian sailors Bellingshausen and Lazarev.

Igor Grachev was the first of the crew to land on the icy continent. Its archive includes thousands of photographs, diaries, letters, and other documents. More than 60 years after the landing, the engineer’s daughter made a film based on her father’s memories and observations.

An exhibition of photographs by Igor Grachev also opened at the movie theater as part of the film screening. The audience called the film true and deep. Rector of the Russian State Hydrometeorological University Valery Mikheev noted the contribution of the participants of the first expedition to the study of Antarctica, comparing their feat with flights into space.
