Russian president Vladimir Putin signed a decree appointing Mikhail Mishustin to the post of prime minister, RIA Novosti reports. Earlier, Russian parliamentarians supported Mishustin’s candidacy; this issue was discussed at a meeting of the State Duma on Thursday, January 16. 383 deputies voted for him, no one voted against, 41 deputies abstained from the voting.

Mishustin has already met with representatives of parliamentary groups. He named plans to regain trust between government and business, boost work on national projects, improve the investment climate and build a clear system of interaction with the regions among the priorities of the new government.

He will report to the State Duma deputies about his first achievements in the new post in April.

Dmitry Medvedev, who previously headed the government, took the post of deputy chairman of the Security Council.

Mikhail Mishustin is a doctor of economic sciences and the author of more than forty scientific articles. He headed the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation since April 2010. In March, he will turn 54 years old, a year and a half younger than Dmitry Medvedev, who headed the Russian government until his retirement on January 15.

Earlier, Dmitry Medvedev announced the resignation of the Russian government. He recalled that in his message the president outlined a number of fundamental changes in the country's Constitution. Obviously, ministers should provide the head of state with the opportunity to make all the decisions necessary for this.
