Experts from Russia and Finland present joint project at book exhibition in Helsinki

Russian publishers took part in the International Book Fair, which is held every year in the capital of Finland, the Sankt-Peterburgskiy Dnevnik newspaper writes. The exhibition traditionally attracts many professionals in the publishing industry, as well as lovers of reading and literature. This time, more than three hundred publishers from different countries were represented in Helsinki.

The Russian exposition was prepared by the St. Petersburg Writer House with the assistance of Federal Agency on Press and Mass Communications (Rospechat). It included about four hundred books, including reprints of Russian classics, novelties by contemporary authors, methodological literature and Russian language textbooks, historical studies, art albums, and much more.

One of the most interesting exhibits was the unique The World of Kalevala collection. Poets, writers, folklorists, scientists from different cities of Russia and Finland participated in its preparation. The joint Russian-Finnish project is dedicated to the anniversary of the release of the first full version of the great epic poem. For the first time, the main work of Karelian-Finnish literature was entirely printed 170 years ago.

The book was presented by Finnish writers, their colleagues from Russia and translators. They noted that a joint bilateral project wass of great importance, since the Karelian-Finnish epos served the cause of uniting our peoples.
