Forbes magazine has named ten most promising Russian cities. The list includes cities, the development of which has made a leap in recent years, the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper writes. Moscow was not included in the rating. Cities were rated in three categories - quality of life, culture and urban planning.

The leading position in the ranking is taken by Nizhny Novgorod. The Street Place Festival helped it win. It has become a major cultural event uniting people from different parts of the country. Nizhny Novgorod was also chosen as the venue for the Innovation award ceremony in the field of contemporary art. For the first time in the years of its holding, it took place outside of Moscow. In addition, business support is also at a high level.

The second place was given to Saint Petersburg. The magazine noted the overall rich cultural landscape of the city.

The neighborhood of Finland and Karelia helps the implementation of northern cooperation projects. Three thousand-year-old Kazan closes the top three, setting new environmental standards that are breakthrough for the whole country. In particular, the city is engaged in a parks and gardens development program. It started four years ago, and its new stage is dedicated to improving the quality of social infrastructure and the integrated development of territories.

The first five places in the rating are closed by Yekaterinburg and Vladivostok. The Ural Industrial Biennale has been organized in Yekaterinburg for ten years. The capital of Primorye has everything for cultural development: museums that work with Far Eastern artists and the Center for Contemporary Art, where international art residences are organized.

The experts considered Krasnoyarsk, Tula, Yaroslavl, Kostroma and Irkutsk worthy of getting into the top 10.
