The ballet of the Mariinsky Theater goes on tour across the ocean, TASS reports. For a month, dancers from St. Petersburg will perform in various American cities.

According to Yury Fateev, who is acting as the head of the ballet troupe, a performance in New York is planned to be the first. Within the framework of the Fall for Dance festival, the public will be presented with a small performance called Out of Time. This is the work of the young choreographer Alexander Sergeyev. The soloist of the Mariinsky troupe put it on stage last season in the workshop of young choreographers. The production involves six dancers and a pianist who plays on stage. The performance lasts a quarter of an hour.

The tour will carry on in Washington. The famous troupe will enter the stage of the Kennedy Center. Yury Fateev recalled that this performance on the famous stage for the ballet troupe from St. Petersburg will be the eighteenth in a row. This time, lovers of classical dance will see Paquita. In total, seven performances are planned. The main parties will be performed by the already recognized world ballet stars and young debutants, including Timur Askerov, Victoria Tereshkina, Maria Khoreva, Nadezhda Batoeva, Xander Parish.

The next item on the tour will be California. Performances are planned in Los Angeles, Berkeley, Costa Mesa. There will be the La Bayadere and the Jewels.

Yury Fateev expressed confidence that the cooperation of the Mariinsky Theater and the Kennedy Center will continue. For many years, it takes place in the format of annual tours, the performer recalled. The program of performances scheduled for next year is currently being discussed. “The Mariinsky Theater is always a gem of the season’s program and invariably enjoys great popularity and huge audience success,” summed up Fateev.
