Limassol and Nicosia host the Vakhtangov Theater in Cyprus International Festival

Theaters from Russia, Israel and Transnistria will present performances based on the works of Russian writers and Russian fairy tales at the first International Vakhtangov Theater in Cyprus Festival, which will be held in Nicosia and Limassol from September 27 to 30. The festival is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the directing department of the Moscow Theater Institute named after Boris Schukin, the website of the Association of Figures of Russian Theaters Abroad reports.

Graduates of the legendary theater institute will gather in Cyprus, where they are preparing a session for the world-famous Vakhtangov Theater from different cities of Russia and countries of the world. According to the organizers, everyone who "lives a life like a holiday" can consider themselves a Vakhtangian.

The stages of theaters in Cyprus and the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC) in Nicosia will host theater performances from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kineshma, as well as Tiraspol and the cities of Israel. Cypriot viewers will see performances based on plays by Alexander Ostrovsky, stories by Anton Chekhov and Leonid Andreev, poetry of Joseph Brodsky and Russian fairy tales. The program also includes concerts of Russian romance songs.

The festival is organized by the Moscow Society of Greeks, the Moscow Theater "Graduates of Schukin", the educational and cultural center "Angara" LTD, the "Russian Theater in Cyprus Ostrov", the Theater-Business-Success LLC, teachers of the Schukin Institute at the Vakhtangov Theater. The cultural forum is supported by the Russian Embassy in Cyprus, the RCSC and the organizers of the Russian theater seasons in Cyprus, which are held under the auspices of the President of Cyprus.
