Screenings of Russian films began in Florence

Anna Karenina: Vronsky's Story by Karen Shakhnazarov opened the Russian part of the international film project Cinema Under the Stars at the Uffizi Square. The film was shown in the famous Florence Uffizi Gallery, TASS reports. According to the organizers, Russia is participating in the festival for the first time. Its founder was the head of the world-famous museum Eike Schmidt.

The program began with a speech by Schmidt as he expressed gratitude to Russian filmmakers who accepted the invitation to participate in the festival.

The feature was presented to the public by Shakhnazarov, who was also the head of Mosfilm film studio. The director said that it was the first time when he spoke about his work in such a legendary place. It was wonderful that Russian cinema had the opportunity to participate in such displays, he added. The audience warmly welcomed the film, which allowed the viewers to recall the immortal works of the great classic of Russian literature.

The program included another work by Shakhnazarov's  - Poisons or World History of Poisoning. The Italian audience will also watch the video version of Spartacus ballet directed by Yuri Grigorovich. The main parts in it are performed by the great Russian dancers Vladimir Vasiliev and Maris Liepa. The Incredible Adventures of Italians in Russia by Eldar Ryazanov and the new feature The Port by Alexandra Strelyanaya will be also screened during the event.
