The tragedy that occurred in the sky over the Donbas in 2014 was used in the West for a dirty political game against Russia and for increasing pressure on Moscow, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated.

The plane flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur on flight MH17 crashed near Donetsk five years ago, on July 17, 2014. All 298 people on board died. Russian experts initially offered to work as a team but were excluded from the investigation. Meanwhile, Moscow is ready to recognize the results of the investigation only if it takes full part in it.

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that accusations against Russia and its leadership in the deaths of innocent people from mass media and Western politicians started from the first minutes after the disaster. The investigation was not directed at all at finding the causes of the disaster but at looking for ways to put the blame on Russia.

The Foreign Ministry called evidence released by the Joint Investigation Team “highly questionable”. According to Russian diplomats, the investigation is trying to adjust the facts to its version and distributes fakes.

At the same time, Dutch politicians abuse feelings and sorrow of the relatives of the victims. They are shamelessly trying to use them to increase pressure on Moscow.

Nevertheless, according to the Foreign Ministry’s commentary, Russia is still open for cooperation, calls for starting a dialogue and excluding the political motive from investigating the catastrophe.

Russkiy Mir reported that the accusations against Russia were voiced once again by the Joint Investigation Team at a press conference held on June 19. In the published report, the names of four people allegedly involved in the delivery of the Buk anti-aircraft missile system to the Donbass and a strike on a civilian aircraft were named. The Russian Foreign Ministry called the accusations unfounded. The ministry noted that the Joint Investigation Team operates with dubious sources of information, continuing to persistently ignore the data that the Russian side provides the investigation.
