Hockey players brought Russian team 40th gold medal of Universiade

Russian athletes won 5 gold medals on penultimate day of Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk. Russian women’s hockey team won one of the awards. They beat Canadian team in the final with a score of 2:0. Men's team also won the Canadians. They will meet with the Slovak team in the World Student Games final on March 12, TASS reports. 

The day before the end of the first Universiade in Russia, the hosts are the undisputed leaders in medal standings. Russian national team won 109 medals, 40 of which are gold. The national team has already broken its own record at Universiades, both in total number of conquered awards and in the number of gold medals. 

Skiers Alisa Zhambalova and Semyon Yefimov, freestylers Artem Nabiulin and Ekaterina Maltseva, and the women's hockey team brought gold to Russian team on the penultimate day of the Games. 

Russkiy Mir reported that hockey final and the opening and closing ceremonies of Universiade were the most popular events of the Games. Tickets for them were sold out long before the start of the Games.
