Russian National Team set a Record in Medal Count at the Winter Universiade

07.02.2017

The National Team of Russia won in the medal count in advance and smashed its own record of Gold Medals total number taken during the similar competitions, RIA Novosti reports.

The day before the 21st the silver was put into the medal box of the Russian National Team: our women curlers gave way to Canadians in the finals as a result of tuff struggle and took the second place. This is our 57th medal. Overall, there are 58 medals in the Students’ National Team: 23 gold medals, 21 silver medals and 14 bronze medals. This enabled our team to get 125 scores. Thus, the previous record of 56 medals set during the World Winter Universiade 2015 in Slovakia was broken.

The previous day, National Women’s Hockey Team overwhelmed the Canadian Female National Team by a score of 4:1 and took their 23d gold.

The Winter Universiade 2017 will close already tomorrow and students will compete in Krasnoyarsk in two years.
