Russian authorities have prepared about 300 tons of humanitarian aid for shipment to Venezuela, RIA Novosti reports. According to the Head of state Nicolas Maduro, cargo will be delivered to the country completely legally tomorrow. The plane with humanitarian aid will land at the airport of Venezuelan capital on February 20. In particular, medicines will be brought from Russia.

Earlier, Juan Guaido, who declared himself President of the country, said that the US authorities would deliver humanitarian aid to the country. Three military aircrafts must fly to Colombia at the end of the week.

Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called plans for the delivery of humanitarian aid Washington’s provocation. MFA representative Maria Zakharova noted that the United States should lift the sanctions and unblock the arrested accounts instead.

As Russkiy Mir reported, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized that the events in Venezuela are a gross interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state. Juan Guaido was immediately supported by the USA and some countries of South America. Following them, Tbilisi came out in support of the Guaido.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro accused the USA of attempting a coup in the country. Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in turn, called the actions of the overseas power "direct and unceremonious intervention" in the situation in Venezuela. Maduro broke off diplomatic relations with Washington, which had already promised to maintain relations with the government of Guayido.
