The famous Russian film director Karen Shakhnazarov received an award from the Roman Institute of the Russian Language and Culture, the website of the Mosfilm cinema concern reported. The award ceremony took place in the Italian capital. It was held for the first time. The institute explained that the award of honor would mark those figures of national culture, who made a great contribution to the development of cooperation between the two countries. It is planned that the current ceremony will launch the annual tradition. 

A creative evening of the filmmaker was held in conjunction with the award ceremony. 

The Institute of the Russian Language and Culture has been working in Rome for three decades. Its work is aimed at promoting Russian culture and the Russian language in Italy. 

The institute has Russian language courses for Italians. They also teach Italian language the immigrants from Russia. 

In addition, the institute arranges cultural exchanges, conferences, exhibitions, film festivals and meetings with cultural figures. The organization regularly cooperates with embassies and consulates of Russian and CIS countries in Italy.
