Mosfilm studio turns 95 today, January 30, RIA Novosti informs. Traditionally, the birthday of film company is a day when its first feature movie was released. 

The studio’s 95th birthday coincide with the end of a large-scale construction. Shakhnazarov noted that final stage included the building of new pavilion and the House of Costume. He is convinced that this is the best way of celebration. 

He told that not only Mosfilm but also the whole Russian film industry did not hold such large projects since 1950’s. However, the plans are not limited by this. It is necessary to finish the pavilion and the House of Costume and Stage Prop. Shakhnazarov explained that Mosfilm has about one million items, and now there will be a proper place for them. 

The new construction on the studio will start in a month with building another pavilion. The construction of new cinema and concert complex with four halls will start. It will be set on Mosfilm Street. 

All projects are paid from the studio’s funds involving investments. Mosfilm does not receive governmental subsidies.

Over the years of work, the studio filmed more than 2,500 movies. The most famous film directors of Russia worked at the Mosfilm. 

Today Mosfilm is the leading enterprise of Russian movie industry and one of the largest film studios of Europe.
