25th Russian film festival opens in France

Flickr/frennlareoRussian film festival opens today on November 21 in Honfleur, France, TASS reports. This year events will be conducted for the 25th time.

According to organisers the audience will see several dozens of new Russian films. About 500 Russian films were shown in the history of this oldest Russian film festival in France.

This year the most eagerly anticipated event is Anna Karenina: Vronsky's Story by Karen Shakhnazarov. The director himself to present the film. 

7 films entered the competition programme, includiong Arrythmia by Boris Khlebnikov, Turkish Saddle by Yuri Yazykov, Pagans by Valeria Surkova, Nashla kosa na kamen by Anna Kruglova, Burn! By Kirill Pletnev, Thawed Karp by Vladimir Kott, Kak Vitka Chesnok vyoz Lyokhu Shtyrya v dom invalidov by Alexander Khant. Famous French director and scriptwriter Safy Nebbou heads the jury that includes French and German actors and public figures.

Several novelties, such as Matilda, The First Time, Salut-7 and other films were screened out of competition

Full-length animation The Tale of Petr and Fevroniya will be demonstrated to kids.

Film screenings in other Nomadic cities are planned due to the growing interest in Russian cinema in France.
