The longest feature Dau to be premiered in Paris

700' hour biopic  Dau by Russian film director Ilya Khrzhanovsky to be premiered in Paris today, January, 24th. Starting from today, the film to be shown in Théâtre du Châtelet and Théâtre de la Ville 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. A third DAU site is installed at Centre Pompidou and is open for the public during museum hours. «From dusk to dawn, these three sites will be linked in the sky by the Red Triangle, a light sculpture inspired by the early 20th century Russian avant-garde,» says the project website. 

The shooting process involved about 400 people who were engaged in a vast experimental research facility purpose-built in Kharkov, Ukraine. Major roles are played by celebrated figures in the fields of science, art, theatre and film, including physicists and mathematicians Carlo Rovelli, Dimitri Kaledin, David Gross, and Shing Tung Yau; theatre directors Peter Sellars, Romeo Castellucci and Anatoly Vassiliev; artists Carsten Höller, Marina Abramovic, Boris Mikhailov and Philippe Parreno; designer Rei Kawakubo. The main role is played by famous Russian-Greec conductor Teodor Currentzis.

«Once inside DAU, you'll be a participant in the ongoing experiment that began in the Institute in 2009,» the program of the DAU film project suggests,  «Your experience will include the first ever screenings of the DAU feature films – strands of the lives and stories that happened in the Institute itself. You might see one film, or all of them, as well as being caught up in other spiritual, intellectual or artistic experiences inspired by your personal intersection with the world DAU creates.»
