DAU. Natasha, filmed by directors Ilya Khrzhanovsky and Ekaterina Ertel, has received the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution at the Berlin Film Festival. The jury praised the work of cameraman Jurgen Jurges, TASS reports.

The Russian director Ilya Khrzhanovsky worked on the creation of the multi-part film DAU for about twelve years. The project is dedicated to the biography and scientific discoveries of the world-famous Soviet physicist Lev Landau.

After the European premiere of the art project, it caused a mixed reaction among critics and spectators. Last autumn, Russia’s Ministry of Culture refused to give the filmmakers a license to issue a number of films of the Dau project, claiming that they contained materials that contradicted the law.

The Paris premiere of the feature took place on January, 2019. The feature was divided into thirteen parts. The movie houses prepared installations that help viewers to picture the realities of the Soviet era.
