Russian Exarchate in Western Europe, which was established after the Revolution by Russian emigrants, intends to rebuild a crypt at the Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois Cemetery, where bishops-founders of the Exarchate are lying, Interfax reports.

The work plan was presented at the meeting about the restoration, where the importance of the preservation of Uspenskaya Church was emphasized, as the crypt is located on its territory. This Orthodox Church was built on Albert Benoit’s project in the style of Pskov Architecture School in 1939.

Russian Exarchate of Constantinople in Western Europe was officially abolished by the Istanbul Synod in the end of November 2018, however it refused to dissolve itself and tended to define its future on the next meeting in February.
