Russia requests UN Security Council convocation on Azov Sea matter

The UN Security Council will convene an emergency meeting to discuss the situation in the Sea of ​​Azov. It will be held at the initiative of Moscow and tentatively scheduled for 7 pm Moscow time, TASS reports.

On November 25, Russian border security service detained three Ukrainian vessels that violated the state border.

According to Russian Ministry of Foreign Affaires (MFA) spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, Kiev uses gangster methods. First, it starts provocation, then applies force, and finally it accuses of aggression.

In this case, the FSB said that they have evidence of provocation, arranged by the vessels of the Ukrainian military fleet. The organization promised to made the data public soon.

Three Ukrainian ships illegally entered Russian territorial waters. Berdyansk, Nikopol and Yany Kapu violated the established procedure, the FSB statement says. However, they did not stop when were asked to. The weapons were used to stop them. All three vessels were detained, three Ukrainian soldiers were slightly injured. Russia initiated a criminal case on the state border violation.

On Sunday, the Kerch Strait was closed to civilian vessels for security purposes. Permission to open shipping came after almost a day, on the morning of November 26, TASS writes.

The Russian special services advised the Ukrainian authorities to consider possible consequences before making such irresponsible and dangerous decisions.

Even today, Petro Poroshenko supported the proposal of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to impose martial law in the country for 60 days. Now it will be discussed by deputies of the Verkhovna Rada. Meantime, the armed forces of Ukraine are on alert.

The Ukrainian president promised that the martial law would not exacerbate the situation in the Donbas and would not affect the rights and freedoms of citizens. Also, he is not going to conduct immediate mobilization.

In addition, Poroshenko decided to ask for advice from the NATO Secretary General and the leaders of some Western countries.
