Moscow has warned Kiev to refrain from steps aimed at revising the current Azov Sea status as they do not meet the provisions of international law, TASS cites the statement of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The document reminds that Russia is ready for a constructive dialogue on the Azov Sea situation.

The MFA called on the Ukrainian authorities to refrain from any undertakings aimed at unilaterally establishing the state border in the Azov Sea. The Ministry noted that Russia would not recognize it. It added that Kiev and countries that approve the Ukrainian provocations are fully responsible for the aggravation of Azov-Kerch Strait water area issue.

In addition, Moscow rejected all accusations of Kiev in aggressive and illegal actions in the Kerch Strait and the Sea of Azov. The Foreign Ministry stressed that Russia is not strengthening its military presence in the region despite accusations from Ukraine and the European Union. The ministry assured that the actions of the Russian border guards, in particular, courts inspections, are reasonable and legal, they do not have a discriminatory nature. In contrast, Kiev is going to create a naval base in Berdyansk. The city repeatedly conducted artillery firing. These steps are aimed at the militarization of the region, the MFA states.
