Memory of Holocaust victims honoured at concert To Life! in Vancouver

pixabay.comAround thousand people attended a commemorative concert in Vancouver dedicated to the memory of Holocaust victims, TASS reports. The event was titled “To Life! Le Chaim! The concert reflected composition of anti-Hitler coalition including USSR, England, US and France.

According to the concert organizers, the event was focused on the subject of Holocaust and collaboration of the countries – winners of the Second World War.

The troupe of Solomon Mikhoels International Cultural Center was performing in front of the audience. Documentary films about liberation of concentration camps were demonstrated to the spectators.

In the framework of the event, commemorative awards were handed out to the Oswiecim prisoner Mordechai Ronen and 93-year old Holocaust survivor Martin Maxwell. They received special post stamps “To Memory of Holocaust Victims of 1933-1945” issued by Russian Post.

In accordance with different sources, from one and a half to two million people of different nationalities, 15 thousand Soviet prisoners of war being among them, died in Oswiecim concentration camp. The Red Army liberated the prisoners on 27 of January, 1945. Around 230 Soviet soldiers died fighting for liberation of the concentration camp.
