Oliver Stone is inspired by Russian film The Spacewalker

Flickr/Gage SkidmoreThe well-known American film director Oliver Stone is eager for a start working over a new movie about mutual Space Mission of USSR and USA. This issue was discussed during his meeting with Russian Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky, RIA Novosti informs.

According to the director, this idea came to his mind after he watched Russian movie The Spacewalker. It is worth reminding that the movie is dedicated to a man’s first flight to open space. The famous cinema figure called the movie splendid. Unfortunately, it can hardly be shown to the American audience at the moment, taking into account the political situation between the countries, he noted. It would be great to create a co-produced film on the similar topic.

In his turn, Vladimir Medinsky recalled an incredible life story of the great Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninov. Russian Minister of Culture reminded that Rachmaninov left Russia after the Russian Revolution to spent the rest of his life abroad. Although he was considered as an enemy in USSR, the musician was a great patriot. He was sending remunerations from his concerts to the Red Army Foundation making a large contribution into the grand victory.

Vladimir Medinsky believes that the film about Rachmaninoff would be very up-to-date, as it is a fascinating story.
