Parliament speakers of Russia and Switzerland discuss collaboration in education and science

Andrey SemashkoMeeting of spokesmen from Committee on Education and Science with parliamentarian delegation from Switzerland took place on November 13, as per the press-service of thee committee.

The Swiss delegation consisted of members of Upper and Lower Parliament Chambers, public figures and Ambassador of Switzerland to Russia Yves Rossier.

Opening the meeting, the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science Vyacheslav Nikonov has shared with colleagues from Switzerland directions of the committee activities, main law projects and substantial description of the Russian educational system.

In his turn, the head of the Swiss delegation, the member of the Council of State Fabio Abate hasAndrey Semashko talked about the increased attention to the knowledge-based economy in his country. According to him, the culture of innovations is very strong in Switzerland, at this, the educational sphere and industry become partners. Students have internships at the very beginning of their educational process.

In the course of the conversation, parties touched upon sensitive questions of the international politics, including anti-Russian sanctions, but they expressed mutual readiness to continue cooperation.

Vyacheslav Nikonov has remarked that sanctions are counterproductive. Russia is not the country to be pressured by sanctions, the sooner we return to normal cooperation, the better.

Among farsighted cooperation perspectives are space and IT industries, technologies of promoting inventions to the market, student and scientific exchanges.

Besides, parliament members discussed experience and perspectives of business involvement in financing science, management training courses, re-training of senior people and other questions of mutual interest.
