More than 60 young dancers from 20 countries took part in the 8th International Ballet contest Vaganova-Prix founded by the Vaganova Ballet Academy. This year St. Petersburg competition has become for the first time an additional qualifying round for prestigious Prix de Lausanne international dance competition held in Switzerland, TASS reports.

Specialized dance schools' students between the ages of 14 to 18  came from Russia, the US, China, Japan and other countries.
Well-know ballerina Irina Kolpakova presides the jury. The first tour was held in a form of a lesson, while during the second tour participants will have to perform variations from Agrippina Vaganova's ballet shows.

Gala-concert will take place on October 20th at the Mariinsky Theater stage.

Vaganova-Prix contest celebrates 30 years this year. At first this contest was meant only for Russian participants. After some years of break the contest has restarted by the initiative of new rector of the Vaganova Ballet Academy, famous ballet dancer Nikolay Tsiskaridze.
