www.egpchoral.comPonomaryov Vesna Children's Chorus Studio was announced the winner of the 29th European Grand Prix for Choral Singing that was held today in Tolosa, Spain. It was chosen among the finalists: Choir “Sōla” from Latvia, Choeur National des Jeunes A coeur Joie from France, Philippine Madrigal Singers, and Batavia Madrigal Singers from Indonesia.

The European Grand Prix for Choral Singing is an annual choral competition that was created in 1988 through the initiative of the competitions of AREZZO (Italy), DEBRECEN (Hungary), GORIZIA (Italy) and TOURS (France).

The senior choir Vesna (Spring) headed by Nadezhda Averina is a part of namesake music school located in Moscow, Russia. It is a unique educational and creative institution founded 52 years ago by the Soviet-Russian conductorand choirmaster Alexander Ponomarev (1938-2012). Since 2012 the choir has been led by his student, professor of Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and winner of many international competitions Nadezhda Averina. Vesna Children's Chorus Studio is well-known internationally for many years now. It has won many awards in the most prestigious choral contests worldwide, including 1st and 12th European Grand Prix for Choral Singing in Tolosa, Grand Prize in Nyiregyhasza (Hungary, 2010), 1st Prize and Grand Prize in Malcesine (Italy, 2012), 1st Prize in the International Choral Contest in Belgium (2014) and the Händel International Choral Festival-Contest in Germany (2014). The Choir’s repertory includes hundreds of classical and modern music pieces. The choir has recorded 13 CDs and produced numerous TV and radio shows.
