Pushkin All-Russia Museum traditionally celebrated birth anniversary of Great Poet

Pushkin All-Russia Museum has traditionally marked the birth anniversary of the Great Russian poet on June 6. Festive events were dedicated to 200th anniversary of the first graduation course of the Imperial Lyceum in Tsarskoye Selo this year.

Pushkin All-Russia Museum supported by Russkiy Mir Foundation has prepared a specialized gala programme this year. Celebrations were kicked off in the early morning next to the poet’s monument at Pushkin metro station. Actors of The Invisible Theatre arranged a real rap performance titled Pushkin is Mine. After that, people took a ride on special Pushkin subway carriage together with the actors. Volunteers could join reading poetry or just writing the lines on paper.

The Memorial Lyceum Museum in Pushkin city hosted traditional The Sacrifice to Poet campaign with participation of Pushkin All-Russia Museum Director Sergey Nekrasov, great-great-granddaughter of the poet Maria Pushkina – Durnovo and great-great-grandson Alexander Pushkin. The gathered audience laid flowers to the poet’s monument in the Lyceum garden and were entertained by a colorful theatre performance. Gala events were dedicated to 200th anniversary of Pushkin graduation course (1817) and 100th anniversary of the last graduation course of the Imperial Lyceum (1917).

At the same time, festive activities were held at the embankment of the Moika River, 12, in the yard of A. Pushkin Memorial Apartment Museum in St. Petersburg. Deputy Director for Development of Pushkin All-Russia Museum Tatiana Vergun and great-great-granddaughter of the poet, Director of German Society of Pushkin Society Clotilde von Rintelen gave a speech in front of the numerous guests.
