Russian and French business communities continue active interaction despite sanctions. Both parties should be prepared for the same level of collaboration as before after the restrictive measures are lifted. The head of French Economy and Finance Minister Michel Sapin believes that economic ties with Russia remain very solid, RIA Novosti informs.

He made this statement after talks with Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Orechkin, held on the sidelines of the meeting of the Russian – French Council of Economic, Financial and Industrial and Trade Issus (CEFIC).

Sapin reminded that there is strong partnership between Total and Novatek companies. A major project Yamal LNG was implemented thanks to this partnership. The French politician has underlined the necessity to continue mutually beneficial collaboration despite existing restrictions and to use all possible opportunities available today.

Among other discussed questions were interaction in agricultural sector. Michel Sapin called space a strategic direction for bilateral cooperation.

Maxim Oreshkin added that Russian-French business has not been stopped in spite of the geopolitical challenges. Moreover, France was one of the few countries whose turnover increased, as per Financial overall results of 2016.
