The tree planting ceremony as part of the Memory Garden international campaign was held in New York at the initiative of the Permanent Mission of Russia to the UN. Trees in honor of the Soviet soldiers who saved the world from Nazism in the battles of the Great Patriotic War were planted at the residence of the Permanent Mission on Long Island, the Memory Garden telegram channel reports.

The event in New York was dedicated to the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow associated with the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, which became one of the most tragic events in the history of Russia. Gardens of memory planted all over the world testify to the unity and solidarity of the descendants of Soviet heroes living in different countries.

This June, the 27 millionth tree was planted as part of the campaign. This is a significant number associated with the number of Soviet people who died during the Great Patriotic War. The campaign takes place in the regions of Russia, as well as 35 states.
