Russian actor Aleksey Batalov died

Valeriy Sharifullin/TASSPeople’s artist of the Soviet Union Aleksey Batalov died aged 88, RIA Novosti informs. His relatives commented that he died in the morning on June 15th in his bed. He fell asleep in the evening and did not wake up in the morning.

According to his wife, he had to spend two months in the hospital due to the broken leg. After that, he was transferred to the rehabilitation center.

Aleksey Batalov was born in 1928 in the family of actors. In the middle of the last century, he graduated from the Moscow Academic Art Theatre and worked in Moscow theatres, he was screened in more than 40 films. He collaborated with many different film directors. He became popular after such movies as The Rumyantsev Case and The Big Family. The audience fell in love with him after the roles in The Cranes are Flying, The Three Fatties and many others.

He became a celebrity after Oscar-winning film directed by Vladimir Menshov under the title Moscow does not believe in Tears. He played a locksmith Gosha there.

He was a scriptwriter, filmmaker, teacher at the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography. His voice sounded in many animated movies, in particular, Hedgehog in the Fog.

Aleksey Batalov was awarded with Star of Hero of Socialist Labor. He was nominated for the State Awards of Russia and USSR.
