Residents of China, Belgium, India, Egypt, France, the Czech Republic and other countries will be able to get acquainted with the ''Fireworks over the Neva,'' exhibition Pobeda RF reports. It was prepared by the Victory Museum in honor of the anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the siege. The besieged city was freed 80 years ago. This date is celebrated in Russia at the state level.

The museum noted that the focus of the exhibition, which will be presented in almost 20 countries, will be the courage and resilience of the residents of Leningrad. They not only endured all the difficulties of the siege, but also continued to work to save their hometown.

The exhibition will open in the coming days. It will also be shown online in almost all regions of the country.

The exhibits include historical photographs, documents, newspaper materials and posters converted into digital format. They depict the life of the city, from the moment the defense began in the summer of 1941 and ending with the fireworks in honor of the lifting of the siege in early 1944.

Exhibits are supplemented with QR codes. With their help, one can learn about the biographies of the heroes and watch Maxim Yakubson’s documentary ''Architecture of the Siege.'' The presented materials demonstrate how preparations were made for the defense of the city, how important strategic objects were camouflaged, how city monuments and garden sculptures were protected from raids.

In addition, the exhibition contains a lot of statistical data. This includes the number of victims of the siege, the number of people evacuated, the volume of cargo that was transported along the Road of Life, and much more.

The program of anniversary celebrations includes 130 events, and they will continue throughout 2024.

Memorial events are planned in St. Petersburg, they include conferences, round table discussions and forums, exhibitions in leading museums, theater premieres and film screenings, concerts, classes for schoolchildren, etc.

It is also planned to open new and repair memorial objects that perpetuate the memory of the siege survivors and defenders of the city. Open lessons and an All-Russian essay competition will be held throughout Russia.

The main festive events will take place from January, 18 to January, 27 in St. Petersburg. City residents will take part in memorial ceremonies at memorial complexes and burial places of defenders and residents of besieged Leningrad.
