Siege survivors and veterans from 19 states to attend St.Petersburg

Residents of besieged Leningrad and veterans of the Great Patriotic War living abroad received an invitation from the authorities of St. Petersburg to take part in events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege during the Great Patriotic War, the website of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg reports.

The anniversary events will take place from January, 25-29 next year. 65 siege survivors and veterans from 19 countries are expected to arrive in St. Petersburg.

Rossotrudnichestvo is providing assistance in organizing the arrival of veterans from abroad. Guests will take part in official events, including wreath and flower laying ceremonies at the Piskarevskoye Memorial Cemetery.

In addition, they will attend a concert in honor of the anniversary, which will be held in the Oktyabrsky Great Concert Hall. St. Petersburg is preparing a rich cultural program for guests to stay in the city; during the visit, survivors of the siege and veterans from abroad will visit museums and take part in excursions.
