Nine Russian citizens in Israel are not responding to calls and messages, four of them are listed as missing, RIA Novosti reports. These are the data provided by the press service of the Russian embassy based on information available to the Israeli side.

The diplomatic mission clarified that they are working with requests received from relatives of Russians. At the moment, nine fellow citizens have not been contacted. Some of them permanently live in Israel, others are on a short stay. Four people from this list are listed as missing in action by the Israeli side.

The press service added that Russian diplomats are in touch with the relatives of the missing people and are providing them with assistance.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict escalated sharply on October, 7, when the Palestinian Hamas movement attacked Israeli territory. The Israeli Army (IDF) announced the launch of Operation Iron Swords against Hamas. The President of Israel stated that the country is in a state of war, and the mobilization of reservists has begun.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that Moscow is ready to provide assistance to compatriots who want to leave Israel.
