02.10.2023

Russian gymnasts Olga and Sergei Rokashkov won the main prize of the 1st Golden Horse International Circus Festival, which took place in Sofia. The majority of judges representing nine countries voted for the Russian duo, TASS reports.

Bulgarian coach Neshka Robeva, who headed the jury, noted that there was no disagreement among the judges about the best performance; the skill of the Russians was obvious. Performers from 19 countries took part in the festival.

The jury included the head of the Moscow Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard, Maxim Nikulin. He called the Rokashkovs bright representatives of the Russian circus school, noting the high professional level of the couple.

The Russians noted that they did not expect the highest score from the jury, but were glad to win. According to them, the judges' decision could have been influenced by the fact that the duo not only presented breathtaking stunts, but also paid attention to the staging of the performance, its theatricality and emotionality.
