Festive events were held in 30 countries in honor of the centenary of the outstanding Dagestan poet Rasul Gamzatov.  Russian compatriots and local residents in dozens of countries learned about the life and work of the poet, the Russian House telegram channel reports.

The head of the Public Diplomacy Department of Rossotrudnichestvo, Ekaterina Torubarova noted that the work of Rasul Gamzatov attracts the attention of residents of many countries, which proves the futility of attempts to abolish Russian culture made in unfriendly countries.

Literary evenings, exhibitions, and competitions were held in Russian houses around the world in Gamzatov's honor. In Mongolia, a competition of Russian song performers was timed to coincide with the classic’s anniversary.
