100th anniversary of Rasul Gamzatov celebrated in Zambia

An event in honor of the centenary of the great poet and writer Rasul Gamzatov was held in the capital of Zambia. The anniversary evening was held on August, 26 at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Lusaka, the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.

Russian compatriots living in Zambia, as well as representatives of the ZamRus association of graduates of Soviet and Russian educational institutions became participants in the holiday in honor of Gamzatov's anniverasy

A photo exhibition about the life and work of the great poet and writer was prepared for the guests. It introduced the audience to the life and work of the writer, as well as the traditions of the Avar people. Russian compatriots and students of the Center recited works by the hero of the day.

Exhibitions and other cultural projects dedicated to the centenary of Rasul Gamzatov were held in a number of countries around the world. In the spring, an exhibition dedicated to the anniversary of the writer opened in Baku. Gamzatov's family went on a tour of the country from the capital.
