The unemployment rate in the Russian capital last year was the lowest among other megacities in the G20 countries, RIA Novosti reports.

Acting Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations Vladimir Efimov recalled that this indicator is calculated according to the methodology of the International Labor Organization. In 2021, the unemployment rate was 2.6%, in 2022 it dropped to 2.2%.

For the third year in a row, Moscow has occupied a leading position - the city has the lowest unemployment rate among the largest cities in the G20.

Efimov called the Moscow labor market ''stable.'' Stability is maintained thanks to the development of industry and high-tech enterprises, the creation of production facilities aimed at import substitution. Capital companies are developing, new ones are emerging, attracting employees. In turn, this leads to the strengthening of related sectors of the economy, creates a balance in the labor market and helps reduce unemployment, the representative of the Moscow government stated.
