Russian rescuers help fight floods in Libya

Russian emergency response workers have headed to Libya the day before, September, 15, to help cope with the consequences of severe floods, TASS reports. The plane of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations took 50 rescuers and all the necessary equipment on board.

Another plane carried an airmobile hospital and doctors who will work with people affected by the flood. The Ministry of Emergency Situations noted that the hospital is able to work in any weather conditions. It takes only 40 minutes to deploy its modules. An operating, therapeutic and intensive care unit will be delivered to Libya. 35 doctors will be able to receive up to 100 people every day.

The first plane with humanitarian cargo delivered mobile power plants and searchlights to Libya. Emergency rescue kits were also delivered to Libya for work in the emergency zone. In addition, the humanitarian cargo includes tents, warm blankets and much more.

Large-scale flooding occurred in the northeast of the African country. The city authorities of Derna called the situation catastrophic. The death toll already exceeds 11,000 people, about 20,000 people are considered missing. 30,000 people were forced to leave their homes.
